About Malayali Muslims USA
Malayali Muslims of USA (MMUSA) is a non-profit organization formed by Malayali Muslims living across the United States. We work to strengthen faith, support one another, and stay connected to where we come from, while building a life here.
Our History
MMUSA started in 2016 when a small group of Malayali Muslim families in New Jersey began organizing Eid gatherings and checking in on new arrivals. What began as informal WhatsApp groups grew into 18 chapters across the country, each running its own local programs while staying connected to the national community.
As families settled in different states, local coordinators stepped up to organize halaqas, family picnics, and student drives. Today, MMUSA links these efforts into an organized national support network.
Our Mission
We focus on practical, measurable support: helping new immigrants settle in, mentoring students, organizing relief when disaster strikes, and keeping Kerala's culture and language alive for the next generation.
Immigrant Settlement
Guiding newly relocated individuals and families with housing tips, local masjid connections, and community orientation.
Student Mentorship
Connecting high school and college students with experienced professionals for college applications, resumes, and career pathways.
Emergency Relief
Coordinating urgent humanitarian assistance during family medical emergencies in the US and flood disasters in Kerala.
Cultural Continuity
Preserving Malayalam language learning, traditional festivities, and Islamic values for youth growing up across America.
Our Focus
Four core commitments define MMUSA programs, investments, and community gatherings across the United States.
Faith & Culture
Preserving Islamic values and authentic Kerala cultural traditions across multiple generations.
Support & Relief
Providing emergency financial aid, zakat distribution, and compassionate assistance to families in hardship.
Youth & Education
Empowering the next generation through college mentorship, leadership training, and educational scholarships.
Community Connection
Building enduring bonds between Malayali Muslim families across America through conventions and local chapters.
Roots in Kerala, Life in America
Malayali Muslim families have settled across the US, from New Jersey to Texas to California, and many have built tight community networks along the way. When someone needs help, whether it's a new family finding their footing, a student struggling with tuition, or a parent back in Kozhikode or Malappuram facing illness, chapters organize quickly.
Community iftars and Eid celebrations bring together Malayalees from different districts of Kerala, from Thrissur to Kannur to Palakkad, around shared food, language, and faith. MMUSA exists to make that support structure stronger and more organized, not to replace it.
Our Team
MMUSA is run entirely by volunteers, regular members who take on organizing, outreach, and program coordination alongside their day jobs. If you'd like to get involved, reach out through our Contact page.
